I forgot things!

When listing what I've been watching. Thing the First is Game of Thrones. Which I have no interest in posting lots of meta about, but which I'm still enjoying immensely.

Next costuming project: Melisandre. :->

Thing the Second is Missing. Or, as havocthecat and I refer to it, Ashley Judd: Spy!Mom. Which we've both been enjoying immensely, for a variety of reasons. I expected it to be loads of somewhat cheesy spy-game fun, but it's actually turned out to be a better show than I gave it credit for.

Thing the Third is Lost Girl, which I've been watching all along (though I'm several weeks behind the Canadian schedule at the mo), but which has officially been dubbed my Wacky Fun Happy Place. If you're not watching it, and you like your supernatural drama with a relatively light touch and a healthy side of snarky attitude, you're missing out.

I've been watching Lost Girl because Kenzie and Trick are awesome. I particularly enjoy episodes where they get to work together. Most of the others are kind of meh. I actually think the series would be stronger if it were about Kenzie stumbling into the Fae world, having to beg Bo to protect her in order to avoid ending up a slave or dead.

Well, the others took a little longer to grow on me, but Kenzi was definitely an instant favorite, with Trick and Hale running close seconds.

TV writers have certain constraints in their heads when it comes to lead characters, but then, they push them a fair amount with Bo too. So this might be one of the rare cases where the hypothetical "what if the sidekick were the lead" scenario could actually work without watering down the sidekick's character. I think they probably could have pulled it off.

As it is, the relationship stuff can get a little maudlin, but mostly they balance it pretty well, and I love Bo and Kenzi as a team, as well as pretty much all the permutations of various characters that have worked together at different points. So it's pretty perfect for my personal taste. :-) (Despite my lack of icon for it, which really must be fixed.)

I've been enjoying Lost Girl, although I've only really gotten through about 6 episodes. It's a bit cheesy but it really is light fun and enjoyable watching...

It really is. There are just enough serious emotional notes to keep it from being complete fluff and make me care what happens to the characters, but mostly it's just my Wacky Fun Happy Place. :-)

Probably not irrelevant that Peter Mohan (late of BT) is the showrunner, either. LG has a lighter touch overall, but it's still a similar balancing act.
