Why can't they use their powers for good?

Nothing like waking up to a jillion bounce messages for a spam message sent to EVERYONE EVER from my primary email address. Grrrr.

Malwarebytes & Spybot run just in case (everything appears clean), password changed.

Now, of course, half the western world has my address flagged as spam. Just dandy. :-P

When I got one of those spam message, I just deleted it and didn't treat it as spam. I hope you don't have to abandon the email address. :-(

I got a LOT of "rejected" bounces, but none from anyone I actually email regularly. So hopefully it'll all be good.

I'll be seriously scorched if it becomes unusable, since it's the same one I've used for 13 years, but I doubt it'll come to that.

Excellent subject line. My sympathy on this infliction!

(I did not receive anything from your account, either, for what it's worth, whether that means my ISP blocked it or something else...)

I estimate the "rejected" messages at several dozen, and didn't pay close attention to where most of them came from. Chances are good yours was one, since some bounces or auto-replies came from addresses I emailed once, years ago. Like, say, the jobs email at Steppenwolf. *eyeroll*

I got one and was going to make sure you knew, but lo you are on top of that! I did not mark you as spam, just deleted it. <3

It's the accounts that automatically marked it as spam that are concerning me a bit. But, what are you gonna do?

I made sure not to flag your address.

Those clowns are truly sociopathic - not caring that they're potentially closing down an innocent person's line of communication with the outside world? Here's hoping that the fruits they reap are bitter indeed...

Thanks. It's the dozens of "rejected" bounces that were no doubt auto-flagged that concern me, but we shall see what we shall see. *shrug* I didn't recognize any of them at a glance as people I actually communicate with regularly, so.

Whoops...I just sent you an e-mail letting you know I got one. Guess I should have checked LJ first....

Hacking sucks. :C

No worries! I do the same thing, even though I figure the person is probably already aware. Better safe. :-)

Dear friend:

My rotten English syntax, let me show you it.

Ugh. I had that happen when I did the fiscally responsible thing a couple of years ago and closed out an old, old email account. (Oy, the hoops I had to clear to get it closed!) Less than a month later, some spammer had picked it up and was sending out regular crap to everyone on that account's mailing list, which included my new email. I was so pissed off, especially because the old email company wouldn't do squat about it.

Here's hoping yours was a one-time thing that doesn't have too huge an impact.

Ugh. Charming. Much sympathy, especially at the lack of service. :-(

Thankfully, I don't really expect any further problems from this, other than possibly winding up in some people's spam folders.

I just delete the spam, and ignore it. It happens.
