Post ALL the vids!

In a flurry of post-VVC determination (that does not quite extend to actually working on my next vid in progress), I now have All The Vids I Have Ever Made (with the exception of "There Never Was a Time," which just occurred to me, but all my solo vids) up on my YouTube channel.

Additionally, I learned over the weekend that AO3 has enabled embedding from the standard streaming sites so that vids can be posted there. So they can now also be found in my Works there, where there are Collections set up for VividCon in general as well as sub-collections for 2009, 2010, and 2011.

I had "subscribed" to you on the AO3. :-) The flurry (exactly the right word ~g~) of notifications today was amusing.

*rueful chuckle* I considered that side effect, and thought about stringing them out a bit more, but I have a feeling I wouldn't have actually gotten it done if I had. Hopefully it was just amusing and not annoying!

Oh, yes! No annoyance, just amusement, and happiness for you that you were getting it done, and for us all that you have so much to share.

I've been meaning to make a post asking you vidders in general about the health of your medium, where you feel music videos in popular culture and fandom are heading. This week would probably be a good time for those questions. :-)

I have one Nth-gen SLP videotape of vintage FK vids. I'm very fond of them; I must find a way to digitize them before the tape melts or crumbles or otherwise expires.

Fannish vidding is thriving, with all the familiar formats still being used for new (and old) fandoms, as well as an array of new styles and techniques developing to keep up with the availability of technology and source media. So it's heading in pretty much every direction imaginable.

Meanwhile, everyone half-jokes (or more than half) that MTV and VH-1 barely shows videos anymore, but artists still crank them out, mostly for consumption online. My anecdotal observation indicates that, while most of those are still of the stripped-down faux rehearsal/concert variety, the kind of full-blown video we knew in the 80s is making something of a comeback. Paramore's "Brick by Boring Brick" is my favorite of recent years. And of course the accessibility of film technology means you don't need big-label resources anymore, so you get things like Karen Elson's "The Truth Is In the Dirt" and some very cool stuff from really indie artists.

Thank you! Those are exactly the sorts of things I wanted to learn.

FK Vids - VHS
Apologies for the interruption, but I'm wondering if the vintage FK vids on videotape you mention are by Mary Van Duesen? There are relatively few FK vids in general, especially from the VCR vidding days. And I only know of one full tape collection by a single vidder (Mary Van Duesen); there might have been others, but I only know of Mary's. Of course, it might be a collection with multiple vidders, hence my query.

Anyway, if it Mary's tape, ALL her FK vids are online now - along with about 400 others in various fandoms. *BG* Most of her FK vids have been remastered with better DVD source. There are 21 FK vids available for download in both small and large format, including a new vid from 2011.

Direct link to Mary's Forever Knight vid page - REPLACE hXXp with http

Link to most recent vids & page links to all fandoms - REPLACE hXXp with http

Link to all 450+ vids in chronicological order - REPLACE hXXp with http

If these aren't the vids you have on tape, I'd be curious to learn who the vidder was. And if it was Mary, I hope you enjoy anew the vids in digital format!

Re: FK Vids - VHS
Oops! Ignore the replace part as LJ actually posted the real links and didn't screen the comment as spam as it has been doing in many journals.

They're assorted. :-)

The one VHS tape I have of FK fanvids was dubbed -- many, many years ago -- from multiple sources, by someone with whom I've since lost touch. A few of the vids have credits, but most do not.

I am not familiar with Mary Van Duesen; thank you for the links!

Hooray! Now I can finally watch them. :)

There were actually only two not up yet (other than the brand-new one), both from 2001, because I hadn't got round to adjusting the audio so YT wouldn't block it for public consumption. So don't get too excited. :-)
