That's one way to improve a Monday

And oh, it has been a Monday, for reasons (of the Office of Doom variety) too tiresome to enumerate.

Then I got back online to find that I've won two tickets to the off-Broadway Dracula revival. \o/ I still wish it weren't The Godawful Hamilton Deane Play, but it's possible to have a good production. They're just handicapped by a bad play. (For the record -- and this should surprise no one who knows me -- I don't object to it on the basis of faithfulness to the novel or lack thereof. I just think it's a poorly constructed play with clunky dialogue.)

Whether I'll be able to swing a trip to NYC to see it is another question entirely. They're giving one away, of course, but I suspect I'm disqualified by dint of having won a smaller prize. So I may end up giving the tickets away. But it's still cool to have won them!

I'm also inordinately amused that the retweet that put me in the drawing was the latest iteration of my perennial eyeroll at people who get their ill-informed snob on about a "tradition" of less than a century's vintage. ;->

If you go, I'd really love to hear your thoughts on it! Noah from ATWT is in it - and quite frankly, I'm expecting him to suck ;D

If I go, I will most certainly post thoughts on it. Probably more than anyone wants to read. :-D

:: checks cast bios :: Oh, THAT's why people are all gonzo on the Facebook wall about some Jake person. Why do you expect him to suck? (And honestly, he's Jonathan. In that script, yet. All he really has to do is be earnest and mostly useless.)

He can't act ;)

Ah, but he can't act for camera? He can't act on a soap schedule? There are lots of reasons he could surprise us. You never know.

Or maybe he's just there to be pretty and bring in fangirls. We shall see. :-)

Truthfully, as you said, if the role doesn't need much he might be okay with it :)

I wonder whether this is the play I saw years ago when I had season tickets for Meadowbrook Theater. I had a friend on the production crew, and she said the only way the actors could get through it was to camp it up as much as they could get away with.

Could be worse: my high school did Dracula Baby, a musical comedy. I helped a friend learn his lines, and still remember such immortal dialogue as, "It is rumored the evil Count Dracula has returned from the city!" "Yes, the blood bank is down to two pints."

Well, that would be one way. It actually can be done well straight, but you have to be absolutely fanatical about pacing.

I've heard of Dracula Baby! And never good things. *g*

A friend is playing one of the Vixens in another production of the Steven Dietz adaptation (the one we did at GreenMan) come spring. I'm looking forward to that. That one's not perfect, but it's probably the best I've seen/read, and I think it's spoiled me.

Congratulations on the win! That's pretty cool.

Also - Michel Altieri? Pretty. He can live. ;)

I concur. On both counts. :-D
