State of the Wili

Still doing a few more hours than normal at Office of Doom, but fewer, and happily the reason I'm doing them is that we've hired someone and I'm training her. The good news is that she's awesome. The ummmmm news is that she's awesome in no small part because she has a law degree of her very very own, which makes me wonder how long we're going to have her.

The contract work has also picked up a bit, which means more money coming in (always a yay) but more careful Schedule Tetris-ing to do projects. Of which there is no shortage. The progress on Unvarnished (which, after looking at it on my Lizzie self-portrait icon for years, and considering it the working title of the show for a good long while, is now the Really and Truly title, unless I think of a better one) has been mostly gathering and organizing my electronic research materials in Scrivener. Have also been skimming through my books and putting little Post-It tabs next to passages I want to type in or make notes about. Oh, and discovered that my copy of Lucinda Hawksley's Lizzie Siddal: Face of the Pre-Raphaelites is MIA. (Yes, just a few weeks after being contacted by said author on Twitter. *facepalm*)

Promo stuff is in the works for Scarlet X, and the plan is still for the first webisode to go up sometime in January. Meanwhile, I've gotten in, not quite on the ground floor, but certainly on the first floor of an entirely different project that I can't actually talk about yet. I'm still kind of going "whoa" about that one, because it's potentially a fairly high-profile thing, and how I came into contact with its creators involves a couple levels of serendipity.

So, I'm still probably not going to be posting a whole lot here in the near future, and certainly not so much with the fannish meta-by-the-acre. But no news is pretty good news at the moment, so yay. :-)

Three cheers for serendipity. I hope that the busy doesn't kill you, and that you find your Lizzie book pronto.

Thanks! I'm pretty sure it won't kill me. Not cutting into sleep yet, which is always the red zone. ;-D

I'm so crossing my fingers for you that you'll be able to get out of Office of Doom for good!!

Don't hold your breath on that one. But as long as I can get back to my 20-hour week and manageable workload, it's all good.
