Of Victorian muses and small print runs

So, that book I was looking for? Is now in my hot little hands, courtesy of my awesome (and deservedly award-winning) local library and a really quite speedy interlibrary loan from Northwestern. Yay!

Also, dude. Not counting notes and bibliography, this puppy is all of 124 pages long. So it costs just under A DOLLAR A PAGE. (And yeah, I know notes and biblio totally count, because they're a pain to compile, but that would put a crimp in my DOLLAR A PAGE boggling, so shush.)

Will report back when read.

As a reader, I am very grateful that the usual book cost is more like $1:100 pages. I don't doubt that every author really deserves dollars per page! But wow, to buy...

Looking forward to it!

True enough, though I suspect that more ultimately goes to the author for the ones in the 1:100 category. Monetarily, at least. In the "publish or perish" realm, I'm guessing the building block of tenure is what matters much more to this author.
