I'm sort of going... "Huh."
In the moment, I really enjoyed pretty much all of it, which in the end is what counts, I guess. I particularly love that it feels like a nod to approximately the Fourth Doctor era. I don't think that's why it's not sticking to my metaphorical fannish ribs, but it could be an element, I dunno.
Nasreen in particular makes me giddy with Awesome Guest Star glee.
Rory's death. Um. Hurt like OW in the moment, which again, ultimately what counts. Whether it was a good or a bad idea in the bigger storytelling picture... remains to be seen, I think. Strange to watch Amy going to pieces over him again so soon, but what else is she going to do? And the forces of chance and destiny have no particular reason to space such things out.
The ring will obviously be significant, or they wouldn't have done the weird contrived thing with leaving it in the TARDIS in the first place. It'll be the key to remembering Rory, at the very least.
The Doctor's laundry list of all the fantastic things that made him Rory is a thing of beauty. He might give a lot of shit to a Harry or a Mickey or a Rory, for no good reason that I can see, but he really does believe far better of them than that. Doesn't excuse his behaving like a git, but it's still nice to hear it articulated.
