Daisy's rings

The only bit remaining for my hall costume. I've been looking some, but I'm glad I didn't find anything, because I was looking based on the screencaps from the web-only prequel, and the impression I got from them was not at all right.

Rewatching the season with havocthecat and deire, I realized that the same jewelry they put on her for the prequel is worn throughout the season, and we got good closeups of her hands in one scene in particular. I isolated these from the very handy screencap archive at fishsticktheatre:

~ ~

I had thought both were goldtone, but the one on her index finger is copper (though my "filigree" impression wasn't too far off from the wirework it actually is), and the one on her middle finger is both gold and silver. I would never have guessed it also had pearls on it. (Which, now that I think about it, makes sense for a reason that is spoilery.) And it's definitely one of those expandable ones.

If you spot something like either of these, and it isn't outrageously expensive, could you holler? I'm still thinking I might do this hall costume for Cyphan, and definitely going to work it in at some point at Dragon*Con.

Those look like something one might reasonably approximate with pearlescent polymer clay....

Not sure I want to go to those crafty lengths for this particular costume, but it's a definite thought!

They are so distinctive and I could swear I've seen similar rings to both of them and yet I have no idea how to construct a web search that would yield good results....

I probably will get crafty to some extent. If I could figure out the right knots for the CrankyMongolianSam headdress tassels (not to mention making the headdress itself out of aluminum roof flashing, assorted beads and Kuchi jewelry pieces, and about half a tub of Plumber's Goop), I should be able to manage the wirework.

The other one, I'll probably find a pin or pendant or something that resembles it and attach it to an expandable ring band. My hoard of costume jewelry is such that I'm mildly surprised I don't already have something close!

Aha! Now I know what post you were talking about last night!
The rectangular one looks like it would be difficult to do, even in Sculpey in the silver clay, but the copper one looks reasonably doable, craftwise.

I went back through my potentially-repurposeable costume jewelry, and there's a pair of my Grandma M's clip earrings with a goldtone frame and a rim of tiny pearls, inset with a green acrylic relief that I might be able to swap out for something else. Or paint and glue pearls onto it, or something.

But that's only if I can't find a reasonable substitute, which is definitely my preference! :-D
