FKFicFest gleeeeeee!

brightknightie and amilyn, being very clever, have constructed fkficfest with rolling releases, so that instead of twenty fics all unscreening at once, we get two (or one, if it has to be broken into parts so as not to exceed LJ's posting limits) per day.

So I've been happily reading something new and cool every day this week, and today I hit the jackpot. brightknightie picked up the prompt I thought least likely to be written, meshing Nick's canonical artistic bent with my favorite artistic movement to produce "True to Life."

The life Nick has made for himself in mid-19th-century London, his interactions with the historical characters, the mystery that arrives with Janette, and the ongoing process of deciding who he is, who he wants to be, and how to get there... It's all here, and all jaw-droppingly beautifully crafted from the first word to the last.

I couldn't have asked for a better gift. I hope my recipient is even half as happy with what I came up with, when it's released.

Thank you!
Thank you very much for pointing your f-list toward fkficfest once again!

And thank you for all your generous words and enthusiasm about "True to Life." You read it so quickly this morning -- amazing! -- and responded with wonderfully thoughtful attention. I'm grateful. I did my best to honor your prompt, your interests, and FK. I'm sorry that I couldn't find a larger opening for Lizzie and Nick; society would just not have brought them together through the thickets of gender, class, money and marital status, I think.

(You can also tell me what I got wrong or developed inadequately, if you like, so that I can do better next time. Really. ~g~)

One of the lovely side-effects of this fest is that I must open a plot-bunny file for ideas hatching from the side conversations, not to mention the urge to run this particular universe on straight into "The Fix" flashbacks. We'll see if any of that happens, but it is fun, no matter what.

Thank you for the prompt, and the energy, and the support.

Re: Thank you!
You're so welcome. I really can't think of anything that could have been done better! I appreciate the thought re: Lizzie, but I'd rather have believable and appropriate than more. :-)

Of course, if it does spawn new plotbunnies, I'll be the last to argue! And the first in line to beta?
