Daisy Does Singapore

Dress came! I couldn't be arsed to iron it or curl my hair just for these, but you get the general idea. (Click to embiggen any of the below)

The shoes are surprisingly comfortable. Yes, very high, but rounded toes are my friend. I can deal with very high. I will, however, kill myself within fifteen feet of the hotel room door at any given con if I don't put traction patches on the soles. They're practically polished on the bottom.

The earrings I pulled out are a little big, I'm realizing, and hers are little bars rather than hoops. But I have a ridiculous number of earrings, so I'll probably just wear smaller hoop-posts rather than buying more.

I still need to find the rings (havocthecat, if you hit any thrift stores or garage sales, will you help me keep an eye out?), because that's not something I'm in the habit of wearing:

And I'll probably go back to Burlington Coat Factory and grab another ($5) pack of bangles:

I'm now only going to Saturday of Cyphan (since it's opening weekend of Midsummer), so I dunno if I'll wear it there or save it for Dragon*Con. The bigger con has a higher likelihood of running into BH fans who'll get it, but the only other hall-costume thought I had for Cyphan was my other cheongsam, the long champagne-gold one, which coordinates with the waistcoat of brainiacfive's Eighth-Doctor-inspired wedding suit. So it'll probably partially depend on what he decides to do.

Gorgeous! The dress is terrific, too.

And it'll be easier to pack than the dress for the clockwork dame.

Indeed! (And the pocket hoops, and the quilted petticoat, and the mask...) "Portable" is very much my costuming watchword this year...

I wish! The paycheck would be nice. Shampoo isn't something they'll ever hire me for, though. I don't have the hair. *wry g*

I think I might have seen that one!

I've been noticing a lot of my "type" in commercials lately. And yet I don't get called. *shrug*

Ooh, nice dress! And yes, I'll look. Am I correct in thinking one of those rings is a skull, BTW?

The one with the pearl? :: squints at big pic :: That wouldn't have occurred to me, but I think I've noticed elsewhere that it's a hollow filigree. She wears the same ones (and the bracelets -- I noticed them slipping out from the sleeve of her jacket when we were watching 2x04) through the series, so you can get a better look at them that way.

Daisy Blue Mandarin Dress Screenshots
From where do these Daisy screenshots come? I've seen all of season two now... am I not remembering this scene, or does this belong to the additional materials that I have not seen?

Re: Daisy Blue Mandarin Dress Screenshots
Ivan and Daisy got an online prequel as promo for S2, counterpart to the ones for Annie, George and Mitchell for S1. Like those, it's interesting as supplement, but not necessary to comprehension of aired canon.

Other than introducing their personalities, relationship, and globetrotting habits, it further demonstrates that there seems to be no taboo against recruiting children. (A notion initially suggested by Mitchell telling Fleur that Bernie would "be looked after" when she no longer could, implying that he sees no need to keep the recruitment a secret from the others.)
