Work geek, play geek

Opera website continues to give me headaches, but I think I'm close to cracking how I want to do the new design. The existing one looks nice, but it's such a pain to update. The problem is that it was put together by a very competent corporate web developer who knows sod-all about arts branding, and our graphic designer is a kick-ass print guy who knows sod-all about designing for the web. *sigh* Can't complain about what you get for free, of course, and Eric still does all our print stuff pro bono. And it continues to kick ass, but I have a bit of a challenge matching the site design to it to keep the branding consistent.

Meanwhile, of course, we need a laundry list of stuff up-to-date on it to bolster our grant chances. It's not enough to give 'em the info in the grant app itself anymore; the content has to be out there at the world's fingertips.

In happier news, I carved out a couple hours this afternoon to go into full-on Fabric Hunt Mode for the Black Widow. Which didn't result in anything tangible fabric-wise, but I did score a rubber Batman utility belt (Rubies is making some really handy licensed stuff lately!) at the party store. And after I got home, I found what I think will work for the catsuit fabric.

I'm going to be lazy and link to my WIP thread on the League of Heroes board instead of recapping everything here, if you're curious about the nitty-gritty details. You can view the thread without logging in, although you'll probably encounter the annoying "Yuku video of the day" or whatever.

I need to spray-paint the utility belt, and then once my "sting" bracelets get here (the guy said they would be in the mail yesterday), I'll be set with my quick'n'dirty for the movie opening next week. aj? Any idea yet how many we're going to be?

So far, you and me!

We shall have a blast! (We should totes say you're Pepper. And possibly consider the midnight? If I could crash at your place after. I haven't done that flavor of crazy since RotS, and it just seems appropriate for the costume & such. But I'm still cool for Friday if that's your preference.)

I shall ponder and let you know. I don't have shoes (I have the skirt and, weirdly, a shirt) or red hair (do you have an extra wig?) but the shoes are fixable with a trip to Payless if need be.

And I'm iffy on the Midnight as I must be at work the next morning, and Friday would work a lot better for me.

Oooh, yeah, I didn't realize you had to be at work the next morning. I don't, so that's totally your call.

I actually do have a wig, but it's more auburn than Pepper-red. Especially movie-Pepper, who is much more strawberry. Which you were last time I actually saw you.

Edit: I think I've asked tyou this before, but what size shoe do you wear? I have a couple different pair that would work.

Also, what are your thoughts on temporary color?

9.5/10, and I'm kinda against atm. My hair's been weird lately.

Understanding re: weird hair. My shoes are not possible, but it was a thought.

Say, what time do you get off Friday? What are the chances of getting ready together at your place?
Apr. 29th, 2010 02:59 pm (UTC)
I get off at 5 on Friday and the bus is only a 20 minute journey, so getting ready at my place would be pretty easy and straight forward. And if you get in town early, you're welcome to stop by and pick up a key so you can hang out at my place and play with FX:The series DVD's. ;)

Do you still have my cell number? I think the only number I have for you is your mom's house.

Er.. no? I'll PM you!

A comment on your costuming thread conversation on the other forum:
I know you're going for movie accuracy, not comics canon, but I can't help observing that while the Widow's costume has been gray for the past decade or so, back in the days that she was Daredevil's sidekick, it was indeed actually dark blue -- or, at any rate, the blue highlight on the black suit was the dominant color in any given panel, perhaps simply implying a very, very high shine. Her blue looked good next to DD's red.

Ah! Good to know. Something the guy who commented on the apparently-blue photo probably didn't. I think I vaguely remember seeing covers that way, now that you mention it.

Off-Topic, unless the topic is "stuff that wiliqueen's gotta love": Tonight PBS is broadcasting Hamlet, with David Tennant in the title role and Patrick Stewart as Claudius.

It's probably 8-11:30 everywhere, but check your local listing to be sure.

Oooh, thanks! Odds are decent, but far from certain, that the TiVo would have picked it up on its own.
