Being Human fic rec

God's Blueprint, by djarum99. R, 1535 words. Post-S2, with spoilers through the finale.

"Mitchell looking into the cracked mirror of his past, and choosing the path of his future."

Amazing, full stop. Every word is perfectly chosen, every thought is perfectly Mitchell, in all his contradiction and scars and love. I. Just.

:: flails ::

I've read it three times, and still can't describe it any better than that. If you've seen through S2, go read!!

Thank you so much for the rec and the flail!

Can't tell you how much it means to have people to discuss this amazing show with - it's one of the things that motivates me to write fanfiction :-)

You're very welcome, and it's well-deserved!

I know exactly what you mean. I keep falling in love with these shows with tiny fandoms, and shoving them at my friends in hopes that they'll stick and I'll have a few people to share the squee and the thinky with.

So glad I ran across you! \o/

The tiny fandoms are something of a shock coming out of POTC, which was preceded by BuffytVS (didn't write then). Both were massive, and prolific in terms of fic for years. When POTC fandom began to fade from view, I didn't write at all for a few months, missed it terribly, and then saw Alice in Wonderland. I expected to like the film, but didnt' expect to fall in love or to see anything vaguely romantic in it. Ahem. Well. I did. And it's another weird, wee little fandom that doesn't seem to have much of a shelf life (I suspect that's partly because of the weird).

I wish that Being Human was available in the States - I'm sure my flist would fall head over heels for the most part. Simply an amazing show in terms of the squee and the thinky. I'm writing a piece for another ficathon, and can't seem to stop the plot bunnies from procreating.

So glad I ran across you, too!! I do love the intarwebz ♥

I loved Alice a lot, and will definitely be reading your fic when I have a chance! Want to try to see it once more in the cinema before it disappears, but probably won't get to.

I segued into Buffy fandom directly from Forever Knight, which was teeny, so there was some "whoa!" there. But mostly I played in a little corner with the Sunnydale Slayers, who were mostly friends from previous fandoms, so it never got overwhelming. I've done more or less the same thing in Stargate and the resurgence of Doctor Who, with people I already know and people I meet through them or through fic I like or recs or whatever.

I'm meeting new people slowly but surely the same way with BH, but I'm completely out of the habit of interacting in the bigger fannish spaces, i.e. big forums and such. And of course with BH, the main hub of fan activity is the official blog, which is full of video content I can't see (other than the handful of clips the Beeb have put on their YouTube), and where I couldn't keep up anyway. It took me about eight months to finally get around to watching S1, though we'd had it torrented and saved for ages, and then we started torrenting S2 around the middle but didn't have time to actually watch them until the season was done airing.

I think we'll see a nice jump in the fandom when we finally get Region 1 DVDs and it's easier to get people to watch it. In the meantime, I keep pointing out to people that BBCA has S1 available on iTunes, but feel a bit bad about that because (a) BBCA made some cuts, and I'm guessing that's the version they have on iTunes, and (b) once someone gets hooked, they really need to be able to easily go on to S2 and catch up with the fandom! I have several friends still catching up, with whom I have to be careful what I mention.

Yay for intarwebz!!
