I voted!

And have the little sticker to prove it.

My experience is pretty much the opposite of the ones you see on the news, of course. My polling place is the elementary school across the street, and the only particularly heated contest in my district is for state representative. (Which involves two people I heartily wish never to hear from ever ever again, killing enough trees with their big gaudy mudslinging postcards to make people seriously consider going for the Green candidate just to make up for the carnage. I swear they've been a solid third of our recycling for the past month.) No line at all, at least at 7 am. Quite anticlimactic.

Wishing stamina, comfortable shoes and determination to those facing more drama. Our democracy is and always will be messy and imperfect, but it's still ours.

That's right, you live in a state that's very likely going to go to Obama. :-)

Me, too. I just wish Obama were so far ahead in Michigan for some other reason than a crappy economy.

For values of "very likely" that = "if it doesn't, start looking for four scary guys on horses," yeah. :-)

On a purely selfish note, I'm just grateful my audition this evening is in the burbs. Yesterday's two involved traversing and parking much too close to where streets were blocked off to set up for Obamapalooza. I can't imagine trying to get anywhere near Grant Park tonight!

More likely, start looking for suspicious code in the voting machines.

True. And someone with extremely large cojones who put it there...

It's called "Make My Way". I gave up designing my own a while back. :-)

Mailed in my absentee ballot last week, so as long as it got there, I'm all done. And hopefully now the political ads are all done, too.

We live across the street from our polling place, too. But the lines there were 60-75 people long for the first 90 minutes or so.

No waiting in my Champaign polling place at lunch.

After work with the husband and son in tow might be a different story.

Damn straight! I wish I could've voted. I'm watching the live coverage on BBC1 right now and praying that Obama wins :D

You must be in either the Kirk or the Ozinga district, yeah? What makes me nuts is that I have to listen to those groups go at each other, and I don't give a damn because my area is so blue, we had the Dem nominee and the Green party one. Seriously. There was no Republican candidate.

Munson and Farnham, actually. Neither of whom is a prize specimen to start with, but the viciousness of both campaigns reached toxic levels weeks ago.
