And, as previously noted, there are LOTS of them, now collated and posted here (single fandoms) and here (crossovers and RPF).

Go forth, be inspired, write! Looking forward to the avalanche come November 16...

By the way, I think I saw you reply to someone yesterday that you couldn't write any of the BT prompts because you submitted all of them. However, I believe that 1) you are explicitly permitted to write your own prompts, and 2) there are at least two crossover-BT prompts you didn't personally submit. :-)

True and true. I was perhaps a bit imprecise in making my "where's the love for my fandom??" point. :-)

It's outside what I think of as the point of a ficathon to write your own prompt, even if the organizers allow it. As for those crossovers, at least one of them is in fact nibbling at the corner of my brain. Whether I'll be able to do anything about it in the next two months is another question, of course, but anything is possible.

For myself -- and of course I don't have much experience with them yet -- I see two main points in ficathons. One is the wonderful dynamic of the exchange and the inspiration! That's very energizing and community-building and friendly. I imagine that's what you have in mind?

The other point I see is: my fandom is very, very sleepy, and I fervently don't want it forgotten or abandoned. Ficathons seem to present opportunities to remind people.

I was, sadly, the only one to submit FK prompts in the current oldschoolfic round, so I took one of my own rather than not playing; I was pleased when abby82 commented that she had meant to submit a prompt like it, and explained what she'd had in mind, because that helped the dynamic a bit. I would much rather have been inspired by one submitted by someone else, but there weren't any at all, so I took up what I saw as the second point of ficathons.

Now, in this galpalficathon event, it looks like you and I were the only ones to submit FK prompts, so I will be looking very closely at yours! :-) If only time allows...

Point number two makes good sense. I was thinking "if I'm just going to write my own ideas, why do it in a ficathon?", but of course the simple answer is exposure.
