Chopped liver

Nothing like doing what you think is a pretty darn respectable audition on Saturday...and then seeing what's clearly the same role reposted by the same people on Monday.

Subtle, guys. :-P

Normally I'm good at the "treat it like a performance and let it go" thing, but this makes it a bit of a challenge. Bah.

On a happier note, we were collectively on at Villa Verone last night, and I got some great comments on "How Glory Goes" in particular. I know for a fact that I do not suck. So there.

*hugs* Those guys suck. *smites*

*shrug* They're doing what they think they have to. Best of luck to 'em, though, if they're going to be so picky for a meal-and-a-reel gig that not only am I not the ever-indefinable What They're Looking For, but neither was anyone else who showed up...

Sorry about the reposting. ~grimace~

There's also the way of looking at it that if I wasn't the ever-indefinable What They're Looking For, neither was anyone else. But I'd rather have it entirely off my radar.

If they're that picky, they'd make the role impossible for you.
Aug. 19th, 2008 01:28 pm (UTC)
Possibly. I'm sure it comes down more to what they want the person to be than what they want her to do. If they didn't find it in the first round, good luck to 'em. There's only so much choice they're going to get with no money involved. Maybe they'll get lucky, maybe not. *shrug*

Oh, how frustrating! Feh.

Aug. 19th, 2008 01:35 pm (UTC)
Yeah. I'm used to not hearing from people -- happens probably 90% of the time -- but I'd rather just have it off my radar, y'know?
Aug. 18th, 2008 10:17 pm (UTC)
Sorry to hear it. :(

That happens with jobs I apply for too. I KNOW I could do it... so how come the job was reposted without even so much as a call my way?

It makes me want to smack people around. :(

May their production suck!

Meh. They do what they have to, and there are all sorts of arcane things going on in casting people's heads that nobody can control. This game is as much about what you are as what you do. And for creative people, they can be surprisingly lacking in imagination. A lot of times they want to see Exactly The Character In Their Head come in fully-formed, and are blinkered to anything else.

You most definitely do not suck. I am absolutely certain of this because I have known you longer than anyone else on earth. Plus, I would pulverize anyone who tried to say otherwise.

Many Hugs and Lots of Love,

Hee! Go, Mom!!
Aug. 19th, 2008 05:05 am (UTC)
(((((hugs))))) No, you do not suck. People make choices like that for all sorts of reasons, and a lot of those reasons can be damned foolish.
Aug. 19th, 2008 01:32 pm (UTC)
And more of them aren't. Just things you can't do anything about.

It does make me wonder if it dawns on them that we do look at the listings every day, and will notice!
Aug. 19th, 2008 05:38 am (UTC)
Jerks! Their loss, I know, but still. And also yaaaay on good comments. :>
Aug. 19th, 2008 01:34 pm (UTC)
Meh. I'm not bothered by not being cast. Just wondering if it occurred to them that we do look at the listings every day.

I was half-tempted to submit on the new posting and pretend I didn't notice it was the same "[Name] Films". *snerk*
Aug. 19th, 2008 01:42 pm (UTC)
I'm sorry about that - they should have waited a little while to at least pretend they were considering the people who auditioned. I know that compassion and casting directors are rarely even acquaintances, but I can hope.

And, no, you do not suck.
Aug. 19th, 2008 03:04 pm (UTC)
My money's on it not even having occurred to them. They wouldn't be the first to get singleminded about making a project happen and forget that there are in fact other humans involved in the process.

And thanks.

Would you be interested in talking about your new default icon?
Aug. 20th, 2008 03:11 pm (UTC)
I finally found a photo I liked that actually illustrates my username. (Further elucidation of that is here.)

It would be more appropriate if I still danced seriously, but it's pretty, and I've been using it for a few months already on a couple of forums, so I decided to make everything match.
