Holly Jolly

Home again, home again, jiggety-jig, from rather whirlwind overnight trip to BigBabyBrother and Sister-in-Love's house. Far too much food, much lovely hanging out with the fambly and various fur-people of both the canine and feline persuasions (including about two hours last night with a half-grown kitten crashed out in my lap after she had worn herself out intrepidly exploring and dodging the dog), the usual Too Much Stuff that we don't need but are certainly happy to have. Yay, books!

Notably the OMGSTUNNING companion book for Memoirs of a Geisha, about 2/3 of which is nothing but full-page color stills. Guh. There's one in particular that I haven't previously seen as a still, of Sayuri's ghostly face through the translucent umbrella in the snow dance, that I just sat and stared at for about five minutes.

Mom always likes to get me at least one thing that's not from my Amazon list; this year it's a hilarious umbrella with portraits of yellow tabby cats in Tudor and Elizabethan court garb. Must take as my portable shade to Faire next year (and finally retire my poor battered paper parasol).

BigBabyBrother got Guitar Hero III and I gave it a try today, thus reminding myself why I don't play video games. It's "How the hell do you do this?" and then "I can get better at this" and then "Ha! I've got you now!" and then "Where did three hours just go?" Just. Say. No. Also, the animation cracks me up. Purple-pigtailed chick in stripey stockings playing "Barracuda." O.o And the computer-generated crowd raising lighters for me. Hee!

< whine > Don't wanna go back to work tomorrow. < /whine > But at least it'll only be three days until the weekend...

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

This is an excellent plan. Of course, the description led to me trying to picture pedaling an exercise bike and handle the Guitar Hero controller at the same time, which just about made my head explode. %-}

And a Merry Christmas to you, as well!

>"and then "Where did three hours just go?""

Only three? ;-) This is just why I gave away most of my PC games a few years ago, and resist buying new ones.
