Yay, press!

Confession: I wish we looked like that picture of Laura. She had it taken last summer in a mock-geisha studio in Kyoto. Luckily the average person doesn't seem to think there's much difference between that and how we do look:

Yes, that's me in the foreground, making the weird face. *g* Just discovered this one yesterday, following up on a tip from the site owner of Bravura, who had coincidentally just run across a couple of Daily Herald articles on us during her regular scanning for opera-related news. Weirdly, those two articles have now disappeared from the Herald's site, although the citations remain on Google News. O_o But they were good ones (one datelined Wednesday, one Thursday). Hopefully they appeared in the Kane County print edition.

I don't think you were making a weird face. You look good as a geisha. ;)

I saw no "weird face"... and from an uneducated, non-costumer's point of view, you look fabulous!

You *do* make a good Geisha. And I know the pain of those wigs. *grimaces*

Your mom's comment just rocks. LOL.

We have TOTALLY fake costume wigs. *g*

I have worn a real vintage geisha wig once, the kind with the metal frame inside. If it sits right, it's actually not bad, because the frame keeps the weight from sitting right on your head. From some of the modern pictures I've seen, though, they don't seem to use that kind any more.
