:: wilts ::

Am now heading out of the office at 7:30 p.m. Having taken a half-hour lunch. Will be doing the same tomorrow, so as to avoid coming in on Saturday.

Rehearsal schedules? Should not be made by anyone who has never held an ordinary-person day job. I'm the last person to argue that the self-employed don't work hard or have to make up for missed time. But there's a world of difference between "I need to catch up by this project deadline" or "I need to schedule enough students in the weeks after the show to make sure I can pay my mortgage," and "I need to make up the six hours Tuesday's tech rehearsal cost me before the week is out. Particularly since I just used six days of paid time off and therefore cannot afford to get sick until July."

Thanks. I went home and basically went right to bed, and am feeling more recharged this morning than I have pretty much all week. And, y'know, less like I completely used up and overdrew the vacation recharge in my first three days back!

One thing I love about the opera world: two evenings "off" in between dress rehearsal and performance. Even if I do end up using them to catch up on work hours, it's still a marked improvement over the typical theatre tech week!

Also, I'm close enough to caught up that I may just skip making up the other three hours, and take them unpaid. On balance, as long as the work is done, I'd rather have the time.
