I loves me my opera company.

I really, really do.

But oh, my stars and garters, do they need a proper database yesterday. Last month. Three years ago.

(They could also use a more professional-looking website, if anyone's in the market for some pro bono portfolio-building...)

:: stares dumbfounded at array of separate Excel and MyMailingList files ::

:: will be very well-versed in Access by the time this thing is off the ground ::

In other news, sinuses still hurt, but I did manage to sing yesterday. Missed my entrance by a full beat the first time, of course. Murphy's Law. But so far still not feeling like a complete and total fraud. Conductor is a very good balance of patient and exacting. I think we're gonna sound good.

We're also gonna look good. :-) Just bought this kimono to cheat into a more convenient costume form and avoid wear and tear on my kurotomesode. We're one short for the chorus with the ones Laura got in Japan last summer, and this was easier than making Slightly Overwhelmed Costume Person make me one from scratch. Will also be handling Cio-Cio-san's wedding attire (uchikake, hopefully also from eBay, and hat-thingie-whose-name-I-can't-recall, probably from scratch) and dolling up everyone's wigs. Thought about buying an obi to cheat/velcroize (as SOCP is doing with the rest of them), as I certainly can't do that with my good one; but I think I'll probably just find something in my fabric stash to coordinate well with the kimono and make one.

Must also ask her how she's doing for the men. She was going to follow up on the Ragstock lead, but I hadn't heard how that came out. Of course, we've got some pretty big guys (notably Yamadori, who looks more like a Viking captain!) so she may just be making them instead.

*perks up at possibility of expanding website skills*

This is what we have now. As I understand it, the volunteer handling it wouldn't feel her toes too stepped on if someone else wanted to do it. I'll talk to Solange tomorrow and make sure that's still the case, and if so I'll see about getting copies of the print materials to you so you can have an idea of the image being projected by that (which is much more professional). Then we can get into what's needed and whether it's something you'd want to take on.

Sounds good! I'll do a more indepth perusal of the site in the morning [when I'm far more coherent than atm]. And let me know what happens.... It might be over my skills level, but I'll never know unless I see what the requirements are to what I can do, right?
