Music-geek multitasking!!!

I can too call it multitasking when I can test the recording capability of my new Zen and party down with crazy opera people at the same time! So there!

Dude, this group cracks me up. You'd think they'd all have learned by now not to worry about whether there will be enough wine. There's invariably enough left over for the NEXT party. And then people bring more.

The good news: The Zen's recording capability, while not up to professional studio standards or anything, is nonethless of surprisingly high quality. At least in Solange's main music room, with trained singers who balance well with the piano.

The bad news: It took me a few tries to get straight when it was recording and when it wasn't (Read the manual before leaving the house? Moi? Perish the thought!), and thus I was disappointed this morning to discover that I had not, in fact, captured my kicking 37 flavors of ass on "This Place Is Mine." *pout*

Still, a good time was had by all, and I can show off the shiny to those I did manage to get. And will know better for next time.

Also, from now on I am bringing apple cider, spices and a crockpot to EVERY winter party. Yum.

Crazy opera people, hey? And here I was thinking opera people were anything but crazy!

Can I just say, I'm having Chicago withdrawals... I miss the place! I was only there for three days, but it was a great three days. So pretty, and such great people!

Oh, honey. Anyone involved in a "pretentious" art (classical music, Shakespeare, whatever) doesn't know whether to laugh or cry at that particular prevailing notion. Or at least anyone worth knowing and/or working with. Whoever started it should be shot. Even though I'm sure they're already dead...

We'll just have to get you back here sometime! :-D

I think you can say the same for those of us in "pretentious" academic fields... (and can I adapt your statement next time I have to explain archaeologists are not intrinsically boring)?

*blink* Errrr... If people still need to be told that, sure! (I figured you had to tell them that whips and battered fedoras aren't standard equipment...)

Well, now I know! Crazy opera people!

I definitely want to go back to Chicago. Beautiful place. One of my favourites along with San Diego, Vancouver and Montreal.
