Tuesday afternoon randomosity

I have now received a Cialis spam comment. (From an ID whose LJ is in Russian.) I feel like a Real LJer now. ;->

So, that whole "everybody needs to be in the office 45 minutes early to impress visiting client" thing? Other than the fact that I got the right day this time... Yeah. Kinda all for nothing.

With the thunderstorms rolling through last night, brainiacfive was smart and suggested I use the alarm on my cell phone instead of the alarm clock plugged into the house current. Which was great, until the phone decided to shut itself off due to low batteries at 4:30 a.m. *facepalm* I just charged it Saturday night! But I also left it on after setting the alarm (not certain whether the alarm would go off if the phone was off), which meant it was probably searching for service most of the night due to storm interference (and, ironically, we don't get the world's best signal in the house anyway) and that's what killed the batteries.

Fortunately, it shut itself off with the usual Verizon plinky chords, which I initially mistook for the alarm. After my bleary brain figured out why this had happened, I then went back to bed and got up an hour later with the regular alarm clock, as we had not lost power anyway.

We hadn't. Others had. Like, say, the traffic light two intersections away from my office. The one that I have to go through no matter which of five different routes I use. *sigh* I actually did make it at 7:45 instead of 7:30 (after leaving the house around the time I'm usually getting into the shower). About twenty minutes later, we found out how much the client people's flight had been delayed. And then they had to get here from O'Hare. Which they managed, poor things, at 9:30. *headdesk*

I am going to beat this cold before I run out of Airborne. Of which I have been faithfully guzzling steaming mugs several times a day since Wednesday. Luckily, I find the hot-watery-Tang flavor oddly appealing.

Nothing will stop me from sewing tonight, dammit. Well, except for plunking on the couch to watch last night's Heroes and Studio 60 with my brainiacfive. I caught teeny snippets of each after getting back from voice lesson, and am now quite curious. Only comment I have so far is that Amanda Peet's handling of Sorkin dialogue is starting to sound a little less like the only white girl in the crowd clapping on the downbeat.

HA!!

Yeah, there's been *something* about her that's not quite on - but it's something I couldn't identify. I like your description. :D

I really want to like Jordan, because I generally like Amanda Peet (and would certainly never have pegged her as having comic timing issues!). But it's been niggling just a bit. Now she seems to be settling into it a little bit.

By the same token, I don't want her too comfortable either. I think part of what I like about the character is that she seems to be functioning on a different wavelength from EVERYONE else. She may end up crashing and burning faster than Jamie Tarses did in real life, of course, but so far there's potential that it'll be interesting to watch.

Very good point. I wonder if the intent is to have her be around long-term. I mean, Sorkin really isn't the status quo type. But yeah - should be interesting no matter what is ahead.

Airborne
>"before I run out of Airborne."

Consumer Reports tested Airborne a few months ago. Would you want to know their results? (I ask, because some people really don't.)

Re: Airborne
I'd be curious. Mostly I consider it a convenient way to get more vitamin C than my body can actually use, so it isn't going to bother me if they hate it. *shrug*

Re: Airborne
Never mind, found it. Pretty much what I expected. But thanks!

*roars with laughter*

That says exactly how I feel about it. I want to warm up to her, but it's still off...
