Oh, look. It crashed again.

They gave me a new(er) computer in my office last week. The good? Mucho faster processing.

The bad? It's loaded with Windows ME, which inhales deceased lapines through a convoluted drinking apparatus.

It's loaded with Windows ME

You have my utmost sympathy.

Windows ME is of the devil. Seriously, any IT person worth his salt would get ME out of there as fast as possible. It combines all the worst features of W98 and NT workstation, with none of the good features of 2000.

ME is Satan's brain child
This is so true. I have it and not a day goes by that something doesn't go wrong with my PC. :( It sucks. Poor Wili! Let's give her our condolences! :)

You poor, poor, monkey.

Hey, if IT won't give ya 98 back, then at least ask for 2000. That's much more stable than ME, from what I can recall the hubby saying.

I'm actually shocked as heck that the IT department *left* ME on it. LOL I should tell this to my hubby, and give him a good laugh. *G*

Don't think we have 2000 anywhere in the office, which is a shame, because I do like it a lot better. I think it has something to do with how our database is set up. Although it could just be that we're a very small company and don't spend money that's not critically necessary. Installing a different OS from what came on a particular machine probably falls into that category. *shrug*

The situation is also a little odd because our IT guys are actually consultants from a separate company that rents space in our building (two stories, we own it but only use the second floor), with in-kind service as part of the deal. So they pretty much make do with what we have for them, and don't have a budget of their own for our stuff like a normal in-house IT department.

For what I'm doing, I'll live. Even if it is kind of sad that I just consider it a given that my PC will freeze on me and have to be rebooted once or twice in a workday because that's just how Windows has always been...

Windows ME is the best justification for wanting 98 back.
