Seen every-bloody-where, because we're just like that. I did actually think of doing it before I saw everyone else doing it, pretty much immediately upon reading "Your Friends Are Not Watching the Same Show You Are (And That's Okay)", but since I have no doubt that pretty much everyone I know independently did the same thing, it all comes out in the lemmingy wash. ;-)

The Shows What Val Watches (Or Has Watched In The Last Year Or So) )

There are way thinkier and/or more creative things I want to post about, but the quick and easy will have to do for now.

Two random observations

1) Pow! Tanith Belbin crush back full force. *gorpy grin* OMGcutehaircut!

2) Lionel Luthor is listening to the slowest damn "Der Hölle Rache" I have ever heard in my life. I think maybe they actually slowed it down to lower the pitch. In which case, possibly they should have picked something else? I'm totally picturing Pamina going "Yeah, sure, Mom, whatever." Because, um, so not scary this way.

(Yes, I'm watching Smallville for the first time in at least three years, on account of Gina guest starring. I seem to be at the mercy of my girlcrushes this evening. *g* Oh, hey, Gina gets to look like a grownup. Yay!)

Down and safe

Back from Wisconsin. Very tired puppy. Think it went pretty well -- they were nice, but you can never tell anything, and trying to second-guess just makes you crazy. Curiously, in the half-hour or so I was there, I was the only woman amid four guys. No way to tell if that's even remotely representative of the four days of open call, tho.

I've been thinking I should change "ASL" to "sign language" on the skills list on my resume for clarity (if not precision), but keep forgetting to do it, and today it became a conversation piece when they asked what it was. I of course automatically started sim-comming my answer in the middle of saying how rusty I was. IR Dork. They seemed impressed. (I didn't tell them I realized some of the signs were wrong as I was signing them. They didn't know the difference.) No idea whether that means anything. *shrug*

Coincidentally, ran into a middle-aged gentleman studying The Joy of Signing in the food court at Union Station while waiting for my connecting train. He's taking his third class just because he wanted to learn it. He's a carpenter, but he used to be a barber, and had a deaf customer whose son always came in to interpret for him, and the guy decided he wanted to learn it for himself. Yay!

Watched four eps of The Border on my Zen on the train. (I love technology. I can't read in a moving vehicle without getting motion sick, but I can watch all the teeny-tiny TV I want.) CATH!!! *bounce*bounce*bounce* Maggie is awesomecakes. Have only seen Nigel's character in one ep so far. Needs to be smacked soundly, of course. For such a lovely sweet man, he really does have quite the record of specializing in the morally impaired. He plays such good nice guys too, but nobody ever seems to let him anymore. The show itself is decent -- not necessarily something I'd watch for itself, but well done. Love the computer geek guy. Leila and Grey are getting interesting.

Did I mention very tired? Going to be lump on couch for rest of evening now. *spuh*

So. I watched Moonlight. *sigh*

Alas, it isn't just that CBS had one of these fifteen years ago, when it was actually pretty innovative. Or that they then proceeded to screw it royally. Or even that, sadly, that one, for all its cheese, still looks fresher than this one.

No, it's just that much of a wet dishrag all on its own, no ghosts of shows past required. I really try to resist the cynical theory that throwing money at any idea is the most foolproof way to bland it into oblivion, but this evidence is not helping.

I think the worst part is that I think I could actually like both lead characters if I found them in a better story.

No, wait, the worst part was opening the pilot with a bullet-point exposition dump defining their mythos. *facepalm*

At one point a character observes that vampires are back in style. Too bad for them, because we have the luxury of choice. Buh-bye.
