I did actually think of doing it before I saw everyone else doing it, pretty much immediately upon reading "Your Friends Are Not Watching the Same Show You Are (And That's Okay)", but since I have no doubt that pretty much everyone I know independently did the same thing, it all comes out in the lemmingy wash. ;-)

WTF moment of the day: Listening to the Slice of SciFi podcast, and encountering the statement (which seems to have come from either a press release or Joe Mallozzi's blog; the way they read their news isn't always totally clear) "McKay has had a secret crush on Sam for years." *blink* *blink* Secret??? From whom, the Amish?

When something doesn't look good on Claudia frelling Black?! It so very, very needed to be nipped RIGHT in the bud. 'Nuff said.

I looked through the latest Legends Memorabilia auction of SG-1 stuff last week, and foolishly thought I was safe this time.

One of these times, I will remember that the good stuff goes up later. *sigh* Another favorite bit of wardrobe, this time Osiris' costume from "Summit", is poised to go fluttering off to Someone Who Is Not Me And Has Obscene Amounts Of Money.

As usual, I ask only that someone winds up with it who truly appreciates it. Or that I win the lottery in the next week.

(Because, yes, we just got around to watching last Friday's Stargates tonight. I've been theatre-commitment-free for, like, six weeks now. Howcum I still don't seem to have any time???)

If Weir gets any more shortsighted, she's going to become Janeway. Much of your audience has already been through one of those. And quite frankly, by the end there (or the middle, really), she was one too many.

Just sayin'.

Which, pretty much any other year, I would have gone out of my way to see the premieres of, unless I had a performance or something, in which case I'd watch them first thing in the morning, if not as soon as I got home.

Times change. *shrug* Dunno to what extent it reflects a waning of interest in the shows, and to what extent it's just "Hey! I have time to do things other than work, eat, sleep, and rehearse and/or work on costumes! Let's go to Best Buy and look for a SCSI card so I can use the old scanner on my new computer, instead of sitting in front of the tube!" In any case, watched the first two of each over the last couple days.

SG-1 still feels like SG-1, maybe even a bit more so than the last couple of seasons. The whole Ori thing is starting off more interesting than last year, and I've practically forgotten my trepidation about having Vala around full-time. I still love all these people, and am hoping that they continue to spend more time offworld again.

Atlantis is...wearing not quite as well for me. While I liked most of the characters from the beginning, I'm not invested in them as fully as the SG-1 folks. So I'm less likely to cut them slack when I think they're being horrifically stupid. ( spoilers for 'No Man's Land' and 'Misbegotten' )

...there'd better be nothing missing from "Threads" that I want to use in my "Winter" vid for Sam & Jacob. I know I can get it from one of the other regions, but I learned on "Children of Eve" that Premiere really, really doesn't like mixing PAL and NTSC source footage. :-P

Gotta love this fandom. I've barely been online today, and yet I know the good news and the bad news.

The good news: Not really news, just confirmation of something I didn't really doubt: The "Beyond the Gate" featurette is indeed there, with yours truly in all her dorky CrankyMongolianSam glory. (Though apparently with my babbling mercifully dubbed over by Chris Judge's babbling. *g*)

The bad news: Unlike in other regions, they have apparently seen fit to put the short version of "Threads" in this set. That has completely blindsided me. WTF??????

Now, I did remember that the strip club manager in "Dance By the Light of the Moon" was Patrick McKenna (a/k/a Jay Felger, to SG-1 fans). But it's still inordinately amusing to watch him being all sleazy and yet still a bit of a dork. *chuckle* The flip side of picturing him announcing "sexy, sexy Serena" every time Felger turns up...

I remembered that Brad Wright wrote a couple of first season FK eps, but forgot that "Last Act" was one of them. Certainly in the top five best eps, and the one in which Torri Higginson (whom we'll soon be seeing as Dr. Weir on SG:Atlantis) first made an impression on me.

Twelve years later, and full circle of sorts. :-)

As I've mentioned here and there, but not officially stated here, I have decided once again that, while Gatecon is technically feasible this year, making it so would come with too much added stress. :-( Dammit. Next year, we will be settled in new house, and I will have more time off from work, and it won't take so much soul-searching. {{{ hugs GC buds }}} Damn, I'm going to miss you guys!!!

As "consolation," I'm definitely planning to go to the Creation con here in Chicago the end of August. (Yeah, I know, I've been swearing never to go to a Cretin con since I was about 14. And the for-profit thing still doesn't sit well. But, withdrawal!) More to the point, I'm seriously considering shelling out the $359 for the Ultra-Uber-Ripoff-Shiny-Special-Person ticket. Since I live about 20 minutes from the venue, and won't be traveling to any out of town cons at all in 2004...okay, it's still ridiculous, but not as ridiculous.

Not deciding until I settle on a photographer and determine exactly how much new headshots are going to set me back. I've started shopping around and seeing whose style I like, and the likelihood that I'm going to be spending around $400 on that is pretty high.

Maybe it's not such a good thing that, due to the move-in special I took advantage of, my June rent will be free. All too tempting to go and spend it elsewhere...

Not that there's not a certain amount of glee to be had in expanding upon it. Having fun writing this chapter. (Since it's covering my all-time favorite SG-1 episodes, there would be something terribly wrong if I weren't.)

I have loved that woman to bits ever since Erica did her Cathy Earnshaw impression on FK. (And the accumulation of FK alumni in the 'Gateverse continues. Yet somehow they seem to be immune to the unwritten law that you can't make a TV show in Canada without putting Nigel on it at some point. *chuckle*) I was almost as cranky that they killed off her character in the first ep of HL:TR (yeah, yeah, like I didn't see it coming a mile away, but still) as I was about the suckitude of the show as a whole (and the fact that they had Liz Gracen playing some chick who happened to be named Amanda and happened to be an Immortal thief, but who otherwise bore no resemblance to anyone I knew).

I was kinda bummed when I heard that Jessica Steen would be replaced. But, Torri!

This concludes our Squeeing Fangirl Moment for today. We will now return to the exciting world of collections and give your virtual ears a rest. ;-)

As I suspected for something worn outdoors through that much of the episode, there was at least one more copy of Sam's "Emancipation" costume. (Also, Legends has learned to put more emphasis on their auctions being for charity. Smart.)

If someone gets this one who will actually APPRECIATE it, I may be able to stop wishing a horrible grisly death on the guys at Rittenhouse Archives. But they still never get a penny of my money.

And yes, I'm going to be watching the auction, even though I know I don't have the slightest wisp of a prayer. I can covet with the best of 'em. ;-)

Besides, I'm still planning to donate the one I made to the Gatecon auction this year, having brought home a more-than-respectable number of masquerade awards and logged just about as many hours in it as I care to. It's far from the most uncomfortable costume I've ever made/worn, especially since I leave off the headdress most of the time, but I'm ready to let it go and move on to something new.

Assuming I get to go to Gatecon, that is, since I really do want to see it being auctioned. (Assuming it goes into the live auction, anyway, which isn't my call. I wouldn't feel right putting conditions on the gift once made.) As it's not an actual thing from the show, I'm not holding my breath that it will bring in what I would have charged for it as a commission (especially since it's made to fit me), but it should still be fun. Of course, after the hug I got from Amanda, I consider it to have paid for itself already! :-D

Meanwhile, thanks to the marvelous and lovely aj, I got to see "Evolution 2" and "Grace" late Friday night. Thanks to the aforementioned tech week, however, I will hold off on the many many many things I have to say, 'cause they will (hopefully) lead to more in-depth discussion than I have the brain cells for atm. My three remaining brain cells are pretty much all stuck in a provincial French village in 1931 where some seriously weird shit is going down.

However, I do think I can answer one question A.j. posed Friday night...

Had to read through the description Aardie's twice before I processed that by "fight" it meant "argue." Went to bed late, woke up much too early. At least this is my one full day off for the next three weeks, so I can take a nap any time...

A heartfelt thank-you to all the nice considerate people cut-tagging their "Grace" spoilers. I'm spoiled on generalities, but I don't want to form an opinion on specifics of dialogue until I've heard/seen it for myself. Which, at the rate life is going, is unlikely to happen before the day after it airs in the U.S. :-(
