Llais o Cymry

Just ran across Visions of Wales on HDNet, and left it on to see the pretty footage of places that are not Cardiff and Barry (which were all I made it to on my brief visit).

About a minute and a half in, I was about 80% sure the narrator was Geraint Wyn Davies. Then, right as I determined via Google that I just wasn't going to be able to confirm that online, the express virtual tour got to Swansea, and that jumped to about 98%. I've been to a performance of Do Not Go Gently. Ger quoting Dylan Thomas is pretty unmistakable.

I'll edit to confirm or admit I'm wrong when the credits roll. :-)

Edit: Or bentleywg could find and confirm it before then. \o/ Thanks for that, and for the direct link to watch it online at the WLIW site.

(Not pouting about its being infeasible to go up to Stratford this year to see him in Camelot. Not not not. Which is, ironically enough, the choice I made in February when I decided to make the UK trip.)

Ger's IMDB "Other Works" page says yes -- "Visions of Wales (narration) for PBS. As Geraint W. Davies" -- but I think those pages are meant to be less reliable than the Credits list (where it's not listed).

Later:

Confirmation.

Watch the show online on WLIW. And yeah, it's Geraint W. Davies at the end. 2005.

(Very nice voice!)

Thanks again! 2005 makes sense, since it's the midst of when he was doing DNGG in various places.

Thank you! I checked IMDb, but forgot about the "Other Works" section. Shame on me, of all people!

Neat! Thanks for sharing, to you and bentleywg both. Those sorts of recognitions are such fun! I remember when I spotted GWD in his fleeting Nancy Drew movie cameo, and was the first person to report it to forkni-l. ;-)

This is a great way to kick off July's "This Month In FK" list. It feels appropriate that this discovery comes on Canada Day/Independence Day weekend, but that's just the North American predisposition that July is the appropriate time for national celebrations. :-)

You're very welcome! And it is appropriate, in the sense that, from what I gathered in my googling, I believe the series is at least partly Canadian-produced.
