Safe & happy Canada Day...

...to all my north-of-the-border buds!

Last time I was there for the occasion, it was in this form (in the Windsor parade):

Needless to say, the blue spangly outfit doesn't fit anymore. But I can still twirl my tiny baton for you!

I'm displaying the Canadian flag on my front porch today. After all, Detroit used to be part of Canada.

I'd love to see you twirl a baton.

Now I'm remembering seeing Christine Lavin do baton twirling, at the Ark in Ann Arbor.

I can't do much with it, but... well, at least as much as I could do when I was five. :-D

I still have the same one, too. Er, somewhere. Though the ends are now purple because I used it to stir dyebaths at one point.

The photo is in my grandparents' backyard in Ecorse. Kindergarten was the one year we actually lived in Detroit metro, barring when I was first born.
