Eek!

IMDb says SuperFriends: The Legendary Super Powers Show was on in 1984, so I don't know how I missed it.

I'm sure I did, though, because I'm sure I would remember someone deciding that friggin' DARKSEID would be a great SuperFriends villain. Shaking his fist as he retreats through a boom tube "stargate" in the opening credits, and using mind-control technology to make Wonder Woman his queen.

I AM NOT EVEN KIDDING. My brain, she goes sproinnnngggggg!

(This boggling brought to you by brainiacfive having exhausted JLA/JLU eps and wanting to continue the roll a bit longer. Such as it is.)

Darkseid. On. The. SuperFriends. O_o

It was VERY FUNNY. Tho my fave of all the old time-y DC cartoons is still the Superman series from 1988 on CBS. It was based mostly on the Byrne post-Crisis stories, and I think had less than a full series, but I loved it like pie.

I don't know if I even knew that one was on. That was my sophomore year of college, and my TV habits were pretty irregular.

*jealous* I miss JLA/JLU-- I haven't seen them in ages. And I never saw that last series of JLU at all. They're too expensive to import via amazon, sadly. :(

Superfriends I vaguely recall seeing, but I don't rememnber Darkseid involved...

I must have seen some of the 1984 version after all, because I remember the one where Robin, Zan and Jayna are left in charge of the Hall of Justice and Lex Luthor shrinks it. But I most assuredly do NOT remember Darkseid!

Also Cyborg was on it, and I remember thinking that was dumb because he was in the Titans, not the JLA!

That's pinging some faint bells, though if he was in the ones brainiacfive watched last night, it was after I went to bed. TNT was my one DC title at the time, so it definitely made me go "Hmm."

Darkseid, however.... SPROIIINNGGGG. That's really all I got.

Super Powers was the BOMB! But yeah, Darkseid's biggest plans for them was making Wonder Woman his bride. LOL. Aim high, Darkseid! Aim high!

Okay, I admit it. I watched the Superfriends. Religiously enough that when the "new" version came on [yeah, that Legendary Superpowers Show] I watched it. It was my first exposure to Firestorm. And I ADORED him enough that I went out and eventually got all the comics [of the first run...DO NOT ask me what I thought of the drivel it became at the end....okay, it was drivel] of his series, down to a few appearances of JLA, which I admittedly wasn't that fond of otherwise.

Not sure if that was the first time I'd ever seen Darkseid, and it wasn't until they ran these again MUCH later on Cartoon Network that I realized Rene Auberjonois was the one that voiced Desaad [yes, even the first time, and it probably explains that nagging "why does his voice sound familiar??" when I first watched "Deep Space Nine" LOL], but I still thought he was a pretty cool villain anyway. Pity they couldn't make him *more* evil! [and, I might add, this arc of the Superfriends was the FIRST time I can think of that we saw the "Death of Superman" thing. heehee]

By the time they brought Cyborg on board there wasn't much left to the show [as I recall there were only a handful of episodes after the point he was introduced] and being a Teen Titans fan I was both thrilled to see him animated, and disappointed because I wanted ALL of them! LOL
