Snowmageddon 2: Midwest Boogaloo

Is thus far a rather uninspiring thing. Which I'm all for, what with the having driven to and from Office of Doom today. Usually I telecommute on Tuesdays, but somebody scheduled a meeting I needed to attend today, so instead I'll be safe at home tomorrow. When we will either have a heaping helping of the white stuff (though not nearly as much as the east coast got the other day -- right now they're calling for 8-12 inches) or the... what, second or third Chicken Little rerun of the winter?

Not that I particularly want to be up to our eyeballs, mind you. It's just weird to keep seeing media freakouts and municipal prep amount to a fizzle.

Meanwhile, I wish we could send some of Chicago's ironclad management mechanisms out to the reservations in South Dakota, which have been snowbound and frozen for nearly two weeks while Indian Affairs does sod-all about it. Link goes to Daily Kos, which has mobilized a remarkable direct assistance effort. (h/t to filkertom)

Oh, man, me neither. We were just talking about how we need to do it after dinner to take that 4" off whatever total we end up with tomorrow. Ick.

Oh, my GOD. I had no idea--my family is so bad at communication, for the love of--my uncle is pastor in Eagle Butte.

WHY DIDN'T I KNOW ABOUT THIS. I heard about it when it first happened, but not that the ball had been totally dropped on recovery. Not that that's actually a surprise. AUGH.

I'm going to guess tax season has something to do with it. Also the fact that the Haiti earthquake complete buried it in the media -- I didn't even know it had happened until today.

Neither of which explains your family, but then one can seldom explain family. *wry g*
