Tea at the Asylum

Looks like there are still tickets available for Emilie Autumn this Friday.

The show is at Logan Square Auditorium, right near the Logan Square Blue Line stop. Tickets are general admission, so if anyone local wants to meet up for some over-the-top musical craziness on my big 4-0, let me know!

Sooper Sekrit P.S. to maiac: Keep forgetting to tell you - LOVE the ballcap! Thank you!

When I saw the cap, I *immediately* imagined you wearing it! I want a picture!

I wish I could be in Chicagoland to help you celebrate your 40th!

I've been meaning to take one -- soon! And I wish you could be here too. I figure an evening of "Victoriandustrial" madness in a sea of goth girls half my age is a sufficiently atypical celebration. ;-D

Is "Victoriandustrial" anything like steampunk?

Sort of. But with more pink, probably.

It's her invented word, and fairly descriptive of her rather eclectic influences. She started out as a classical violin kid and became professionally weird, in the good way. Or at least I think so. :-)

What Emilie Autumn song should I listen to? Cause I feel like I should dig this chick. Given her style, I think I should like her, but I'm not sure I've listened to the right things.

My absolute obsessive favorite is "Rose Red." Also particularly fond of "Opheliac" and "Shalott."

In honor of your birthday, I listened to these three songs (and read their lyrics -- nice presentation by the vidder). Of the three, "Rose Red" is also the one I like best, for both lyrics and music.

It's all lizbetann's fault. :-)

"Rose Red" is from her first album, Enchant. It's much more ethereal and fairy-tale-ish overall; Opheliac is much harder-edged. "Across the Sky," "Juliet," "Rapunzel" and "Castle Down" are particularly of a piece with RR.
