[insert inarticulate squeaky noise here]

Seen around the flist, fulfill your recommended daily allowance of both cute and inspirational right here, where a very serious-looking, very small boy in an impeccable little tie is being offered tactile proof that the President's hair feels just like his. And nothing at all like Chia. No, seriously. Those commercials need to STOP, because they are hella disturbing.

Edit [ported from a comment on a friend's post]: I wish we could see more than a sliver of his parents' expressions. And I want him to have that picture somewhere that he sees it EVERY DAY while he grows up. (Even though it's also guaranteed to make him implode of teenage omgkillmenow in about ten years.)

I dearly love photos of President Obama with children. He obviously loves kids.

I think it helps that his own girls are still so much younger than we're used to seeing in the White House. Amy Carter was the last preteen, I think, and IIRC she was only just -- I think she was 12 at the beginning of the term?

I thought Chelsea Clinton was a preteen, so I just checked the W'pedia bio: she turned 13 about a month after her father's first inauguration.

Amy Carter was only 9 when Jimmy Carter was elected.

Ah! I remembered her being enough older than I to be a Big Kid, but apparently my definition of that has shifted considerably since I was 6. :-)

And I had Chelsea pegged as "early teen" in my head, which I guess was true enough.
