Memo to Brain: Still not writing it

So kindly stop poking me to research a better name for a certain character in the long-dormant original universe that I am NOT writing in the foreseeable future.

While we're at it? No more dreams like the one about an open-submission anthology in andpuff's urban fantasy sandbox (i.e. the Blood and Smoke series and the Keeper's Chronicles, under the reasonable assumption that they all happen in the same overarching universe). Because I categorically DO NOT NEED the fully-formed story I was submitting, but it's stayed in my head anyway. (I don't fic in literary universes. I just don't. Even ones where the author has a stated "party on, just don't tell me about it" policy, and where I happily fic the TV-verse based on it. Don't ask me, I just think here.)

Also, I categorically DO NOT NEED to wake up with a desperate wish to read a book that DOESN'T EXIST. And it looked really cool, dammit! (And would also be if it happened the way such things do in the real world, i.e. with established authors. Which is not entirely infeasible except for the part where Tanya has about 937 other things on her plate and I seriously doubt such a thing is even on the fringes of her brain.)

*sigh* Is it June yet? That'll do...

Aw, come on. If the muse is poking, throw her a cookie. ;D

(I think I'll take that "party on" approach with my stuff, if it ever gets out of the gate in a big way.)

I'm going to have to, just to have a name to mentally assign her that isn't as Mary-Suerrific as the one she was "born" with. (I suspect you know of whom I speak.) Because I'm going to cave and start doing some research and notes here pretty quick. :: glares daggers at imaginary witch ::

I get why various authors make whatever decisions they make on that point -- it's just such a dicier proposition when you're staying in essentially the same medium than when you're translating a universe from screen to prose. But the "just don't tell me about it" thing seems most practical to me, at least as long as your fans actually follow it.

Nope. Sorry. Not June yet. Pre-order is cool, but not as good as a time-machine. *grin*

Oh! I've done that. It's worse than wanting to read a book you suddenly realize you don't own! (at least that book hopefully exists somewhere)

Sorry if you get this reply twice. I deleted it and rewrote some of it. I don't think I was making sense the first time! Doh!

Rats. That would also explain the persistent single-digit temperatures outside... *pout*
