Dear Bertolli,

Your commercial with the Italian chef singing passionately to his empty restaurant about how he slaved all day over the lasagna?

Might have worked better with a melody from an actual Italian opera, as opposed to a French one that takes place in Spain.

Or possibly it's funnier that way. I'm not sure.

But that would involve doing the research!

Not that I actually know the ad you're talking about, possibly we don't have it in the UK. :-/

And I'm sure they knew and just went with the most recognizable opera piece in the known world. But it's still kinda headscratchy.
