My kingdom for a virtual sledgehammer

MICROSOFT OUTLOOK IS PUREST BLACKEST EVIL IN BINARY FORM.

Anybody have a recommendation for a good, basic, free address book application? I am so done.

And if I could find a decent calendar app that syncs with Google Calendar (and actually keeps the data, unlike the one I tried a while back), I'd uninstall it from Coreen the WeeBabyLaptop too, although thus far it's behaved on there. :: touch wood ::

I don't even use the damn thing for email on my own machines, just at Office of Doom. Where it's CONSIDERABLY LESS USEFUL when having random seizures where it does its best impression of a nesting-doll popup ad for hours at a stretch.

Arg.

There's Thunderbird which is an alternative for Outlook. I'm not sure what it all offers, though, I never really used any email on my client. It's just supposed to be an alternative to Outlook so it might have what you're looking for.

Oh, apparently they have a Sunbird. With this add-on and you can sync it with google calendar.

I used to use Thunderbird back when I used a client for email at all, but I do everything on Gmail now. The only functions I actually want are an address book and a calendar that will sync with Google.

I didn't try it because I think of it as an email app and I went looking for a bare-bones calendar, but I should investigate. Google Calendar Sync says it only works with Outlook, but I suppose it's worth a shot.

Too bad I can't convince work to switch over...

There's vids on youtube to show you how to sync it too. Somehow I'm geeking out on something that I don't use.

I don't know any pure address books, though. Sorry!

Is okay. I should have thought of T-Bird. Somehow I suspect that a Mozilla app will be less obnoxious about my ignoring its purported primary function...

Sparkle on, baby! (Hmmmm, they gave me 5 new icon slots with my last paid account renewal. I should really make a Danielle one...)
