Jane Austen vs. History

angevin2 has a collection of icons with text from Jane Austen's History of England, which she wrote as a teenager, and which I must read sometime relatively soon.

I think this one is my favorite:

Icon in honor of the fact that, these days, any time I run across something like this, my mind files it away as fodder for someone to mock Henry about his publicly colorful family tree. Which is what he gets for picking snarky humans to get involved with. ;->

OMG! Love love love!

Did you know that you can peruse Jane's handwritten pages for History of England via the British Library website? You just flick through the pages - great fun. And her illustrations are cute too. http://www.bl.uk/onlinegallery/ttp/ttpbooks.html

That's right, I'd forgotten that.

Last year was when I went "Hmmmm, I was... at cheerleading camp gearing up for tenth grade. Oh, dear."

Which is not as funny as when I was running various credits down for amilyn and threw in the Cheetah Girls movie, because she has a school-age daughter who might have encountered it. Her eyes went completely round and she went "OH MY GOD." Because of course, in her head, Raven-Symone is supposed to be three.

Mind you, the last film I did before leaving Columbus, we figured out the guy playing my husband (we were supposed to be the same age) was born when I was in eighth grade. This was determined in between takes of sitting on his lap and kissing him. There's really no response to any of it but to laugh, 'cause it's all pretty absurd when you think about it.
