*whew*

Finally found a source for the buckram teardrop-shaped Juliet cap I want for Bianca. I used to be able to pick them up at any fabric or craft store with a bridal department, but for the last three or four years nobody has stocked them. Bonus: Other handy hat forms on the same page that I haven't been used to finding easily in the past.

Posted for my own reference, and for fellow costumers who might find the link useful.

Ok, that's just MEAN.

Though I did wind up, in my desperate scramble to make myself new robes for a ritual (requirements: white, natural materials), making myself a chiton in about three days. While travelling.

That's pretty darn impressive! I love "emergency" projects like that...after they're done. During... Well, the not-quite-all-nighter I pulled to have my Phoenix costume done for opening day of the first X-Men movie was... interesting. %-}

Eh, I won't swear to it being very good or ACCURATE, but it sufficed for the ritual! And it didn't actually fall off, so I counted that a win. Mostly the fun was the lack of a sewing machine. I'm so spoiled. ;)

Though it was the first project I sewed in I don't even know how long. Since 2004, maybe? Sad but true.

Wow, that sounds like an... experience!

I too remember when hat frames were always stocked in the bridal section. I always sort of wondered what happened. I'm getting to the point where I head to internet because the craft and fabric store has nothing but cheap baskets, puffy paint and plastic junk for the kids to buy.

It does seem like the selection for everything has gone downhill. The upside is it keeps me from buying stuff for more doll projects I'll never do...

Saw these and thought of you
You've probably already seen photos of these, but I saw some of the costumes from the current B'way production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses and thought you might want to see:
