What shows am I watching?

geek, rapier, unvarnished, you were saying, doctor emu, whoa, obama, dwmaths, vamp, pout, diva, first fandom, magic, vexed, headshot, effulgent, maria, perky, chicago, unlimited, madness, dance, sacredspace, natpacker, henry, slings & arrows, bounce, diablo, coreen, oops, heroes, girly, soprano, ew, stupid, motion, laugh, home, fragile, doctorandsarah, puzzles, dreams, play, tim gunn, mom, uh-huh, facepalm, O_O, vicki, doctor who, beatrice, benny'n'bea, costuming, daddy
Seen every-bloody-where, because we're just like that. I did actually think of doing it before I saw everyone else doing it, pretty much immediately upon reading "Your Friends Are Not Watching the Same Show You Are (And That's Okay)", but since I have no doubt that pretty much everyone I know independently did the same thing, it all comes out in the lemmingy wash. ;-)

The Shows What Val Watches (Or Has Watched In The Last Year Or So):

  • Blood Ties: "Vicki Nelson Is Way Awesomer Than Pretty Much Anyone Ever (Even When She Needs To Be Grabbed And Shaken)," simultaneously with "The PerkyGoth Files." (They alternate between main screen and PiP.)
  • Stargates: After a decade of "The Sam Carter Show," still getting used to its having been mashed into "Gate Travel To Pegasus Causes Brain Damage"
  • Doctor Who: "Squee or Headdesk: Toss of a Coin!"
  • Torchwood: "If You Can't Kill It, Shag It"
  • Sarah Jane Adventures: "SJS Shows The Kids How It's Done (And We Don't Just Mean Maria, Luke, and Clyde)"
  • Flash Gordon: "We Can't Decide What Show We're Making, But We're Having Way Too Much Fun Making It," alternating with "Everyone Gets Cooler Plots Than Dale Just To Make Val Pout," with a late-season retooling as "Dale and Baylin Should Totally Take Over Mongo"
  • Battlestar Galactica: "Why The Frak Am I Supposed To Care About These People Again?" with occasional special episodes of "Number Six Pwns Everybody"
  • Heroes: "Claire Bennet Is The Sanest Person On The Planet, God Help Us All"
  • Moonlight: "Isn't It Cute How Edgy We Think We Are?" (Yes, I caved. Blame Credit the sinus infection from hell and two sick days in a row.)
  • ETA The Sarah Connor Chronicles: "My Scary Robot Is Way Cuter Than You"
  • ETA2 Slings and Arrows: "This Is Your Life On Crack (But Actually Not Very Much Of It)"


There are way thinkier and/or more creative things I want to post about, but the quick and easy will have to do for now.

I liked Stargate when it was the "Jack is snarky, Sam is smart, Teal'c is impassive, and Daniel can cry show." And even when it was the "Jonas is cute and smart show." Then it became the "Let's kick out the cute guy and reinstate the crying guy but totally fail to do anything cool with his return and just make everybody a weak imitation of Jack's snarkiness show." /sniffle. This is what I get for watching reruns on SciFi and remembering how good it used to be.

Doctor Who for me is "David Tennant is hot and travels to funky places and tries to say crazy words that the writers give him obviously because it's funny show," but I have been getting a bit of what the author talked about in the racial aspect, too. Definitely a different show.

Numb3rs: "Charlie's Hair Show." Really. That's it.

Mythbusters: "What can we blow up this week show"

As Time Goes Buy: "It still makes me laugh after all the reruns shows" alternating with the "I need comfort TV show"

Heh, this is fun. :D

I love Mythbusters. It just makes me happy. Though it's occasionally tried to turn into the "Jamie vs. Adam Show," which I do not like so much.

Yeah, I have to agree. Mostly because a desperate Adam is not a pretty sight. (Mexican jailbreak, anyone?)

Much, much happier when they're joining forces to blow shit up. :-)

As I look back, it appears that I've been watching it pretty much from the beginning. That's the fun thing about this meme -- I told [info]mrv3000 yesterday that I wouldn't be able to do it very well because I mostly watch for the whole package. Then I thought about it and realized, well, actually... *sheepish g*

Caved. You. Caved. ;) I died laughing when Mick had the huge table full of food. Such a fluffy show, but sometimes fluff is good.

Oh, I have no objection to fluff on its own terms. I just had to get past the OMGBORED of the pilot (and a couple eps beyond, honestly), and didn't have the motivation to attempt it until the sick days.

Once I did, it did become mostly fun fluff.

Cute or exasperating: spin that wheel every week! :-) I'll let Mick come hang with my heroes now -- a little self-sacrifice does wonders with me -- but I'm still not much impressed by his playmates ... although the tag of Friday's episode intrigued me, and suggested potential.

CBS is not playing fair with that "You'll miss it when it's gone" ad campaign. What's their point? Have they canceled it, or not?

But then you can look at Maria at least, and certainly Anna in season 3, and go "Oh, HELL no." :: pets them cautiously ::

Also, must cathc up on the Vicky Nelson show when I get home!
