The return of Stupid Debtor Tricks!

Okay, not exactly Stupid Debtor Tricks, because those, by definition (if I had ever, y'know, actually defined it) are directly (if ineptly) intended to get out of paying the bill.

This one has more to do with how they incurred the bill. Specifically, with the capsule descriptions of the reason for a given insurance claim, which one of our insurance-company clients includes as a column in the spreadsheets of information they send us when placing deductibles for collection.

Today's prizewinner: "Injury while wearing a sumo wrestling costume."

BYOPunchline. The possibilities are nearly endless.

I for one am impressed that such a reason was not only admitted to but admitted to in writing. 10 points for honesty on the face of almost certain mockery.

20 points if it is an intentionally hilarious reason designed to distract one from questioning it.

If so, it probably doesn't quite succeed on that count, since it's more likely to make people really, really curious.

Also, these are thumbnail summaries typed up by people at the insurance company, rather than direct quotes from the insured. Which makes me even more curious what the unabridged version from the insured said!

Well, in the sense that one could possibly be considered more likely to be injured while wearing one than while wearing other attire...
