(Because, yes, we just got around to watching last Friday's Stargates tonight. I've been theatre-commitment-free for, like, six weeks now. Howcum I still don't seem to have any time???)
If Weir gets any more shortsighted, she's going to become Janeway. Much of your audience has already been through one of those. And quite frankly, by the end there (or the middle, really), she was one too many.
Just sayin'.

I knew I recognised the character problem, I just couldn't pin it down.
(Been years since I've actualy *watched* Voyager, I've lived in fic land, where Janeway is a better person, since then :-))
As for SG1, I'm totally looking forward to eppy #200 this Friday. There is a lovely little story in this weeks TV Guide and it looks like it will be a riot.
I'm afraid I'm feeling that way about SG-1 as well. I've seen all the plots before but done with the G'auld rather than the Ori. I thought they were going to refresh it with a new shot of blood, not resuscitate it as a zombie. (Sorry, haven't had morning cup of tea yet.) Seriously, the whole Ori plot-line seems to be about who's got the biggest gun. Again. I'm disappointed.
I am however looking forward to the 200th episode this Friday because I think it'll be funny and I'll be watching it here with friends so there's guaranteed to be lots of heckling and commentary about it.
I think it was that it was clearly a unilateral decision this time. Up until now, she's mostly been at least discussing the stupid with others beforehand. Which really just spreads the blame, since they've mostly agreed with her (barring Caldwell).
This stupid was all her own, although the others agreed with her after the fact. :-/
They've completely trashed a potentially good character. OTOH, if the writing on the show didn't suck so completely, there probably wouldn't be such good fanfic...
But after "The Real World," I can't at all pin my dislike on Torri anymore - she *rocked* that performance. Now I can say clearly that it's the writers' fault that I've never (except for last night's ep and her taking on the Earth leadership a few weeks ago) believed that the Weir we were being shown was ever a master diplomat and general heavy-hitter.
Boo, writers!
going??? try "became Janeway some time last year" for me. To the point where I refer to her as Janeway when ttalking about the series.
Or maybe I'm just delusional. *shrug*
