Blergh, part 2

The Creeping Crud can be over with ANY time now. :-PPP Although I guess if it's not in the next couple days, I can take it as a sign that I'm not meant to do Jane Eyre. I've already written off learning a new audition number for it (Adele's "audition song" from Fledermaus) -- no energy to go to the library for the score, and no voice to practice. If I'm better by Sunday, I'll fall back on "Glitter and Be Gay," despite my strong suspicion that they'll be hearing it a lot for a role specifically tagged as coloratura on the casting breakdown. If I'm semi-better, I may resort to "Think of Me," despite the fact that any hit as big as PotO is never a good choice for audition songs. :-/ It's not nearly as impressive, either, but sufficiently comparable to Blanche's showoff number, and I can sing it in my sleep in questionable health. *shrug*

If I'm still like this, however, forget it.

BigBossLady asked yesterday why I was even here, and I was like "because I've already used a day and a half this year, and I'd like to take a vacation sometime this decade." Which, despite the light delivery, was probably too much like a complaint about the amount of PTO I get. Which, no, I'm not fond of, but it's the parameters I function under and that's that. The other reason, of course, is that my choices are be miserable here, or be miserable at home, and possibly get better faster but then ruin it all by coming back to a despair-inducing backlog of work. :-P

Did I mention it can go away any time? *sigh*

US employment sucks.

I can't imagine working for a company where being sick eats into your vacation time.

(Admittedly, working for myself it could be seen to work like, that, since if I'm sick and I don't work, I can't pay myself, so I have less ability to afford time to take vacations.

Somehow, it still feels different.)

Many places still have the traditional separate sick/personal days and vacation time. (Not that, in most cases, they're anything like what one gets in the UK.) But all-in-one-pot PTO seems to be the trend. :-/

That so sounds like my sucky job - afraid to actually be sick because of the stupid amount of work that'll be waiting for you when you get back. (Non-contagious hugs)
