For those who don't know/believe just how flexible debt collectors really are, I have just typed up a promissory note for the Weirdest Payment Plan Ever:

June 15, 2004: $50.00
July 15, 2004: $75.00
August 15, 2004: $100.00
September 15, 2004: $125.00
October 15, 2004: $150.00
November 15, 2004: $200.00
December 15, 2004: $250.00
January 15, 2005: $300.00
February 15, 2005: $350.00
March 15, 2005: $400.00
April 15, 2005: $450.00
May 15, 2005: $500.00
June 15, 2005: $550.00
July 15, 2005: $1,519.15


This is a strange, strange industry.

Well, technically the whole thing is overdue, or we wouldn't have it in the first place. And this was the payment plan the debtor voluntarily suggested. They're probably one of those businesses with seasonal income fluctuations, or they're counting on building back up from some big hit, but still... Odd. Very odd.
